Applications for all of Duval County Public Schools' Accelerated Programs, including Stanton IB, are now processed by the Office of School Choice/High School Accelerated Programs departments. All application materials must be submitted through their office.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Admissions
Applying for the IB Program
All applications, application requests, and application materials are handled by the Office of School Choice (1701 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL, 32207). Applications must be received by their prescribed deadlines in order to be reviewed. For further questions on the deadlines, application requirements, etc, please contact the Office of School Choice (contact info below).
Eligible Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) students will receive an invitation to apply with additional information on the process of applying to any of the five DCPS IB programs. Students who are not enrolled in a Duval County Public School must provide a copy of their birth certificate, immunization records, report card showing first two quarters of 8th grade grades, report card of 7th grade year with final grades, and 7th grade achievement test scores to the Office of School Choice. These documents are critical for the admissions decision - any one of them missing will result in our inability to offer a seat in the IB program.
Additional Eligibility for Invitation
Students enrolled in the 8th grade for the 2017-2018 school year who achieved a level 4 or higher on the 7th grade FSA Reading and Math, or 85th percentile on an equivalent 7th grade nationally standardized exam (private schools or transfer students only), are eligible for invitation. In addition, students must successfully complete Algebra I, including the state mandated end of course exam, while in middle school in order to enter any of the Stanton's 9th grade programs.
Procedure for Applying
The Office of School Choice compiles student achievement information of all DCPS students and sends invitations to apply to eligible students. Once it is verified that a student qualifies they will be sent an invitation to apply to any of the school district's accelerated programs, including the International Baccalaureate. Private school or new district transfer students must submit all application materials to the Office of School Choice at the address listed below for consideration.
Formal information sessions will take place in October and November on the district and school levels for invited students and families to attend. All dates will be posted within the invitations to apply. Admission is very competitive and the number of students admitted to the acceleration programs' 9th grade classes will be limited based on district policy.
Point Evaluation Criteria
Stanton IB admissions are 100% based on student performance. No preference is given to feeder schools, transformation schools, private schools, or any other student data point aside from academic performance.
Applicants will be rank ordered according to the total point earned, based on the following criteria:
The Office of School Choice (1701 Prudential Drive, Jacksonville, FL, 32207) must receive applications by their prescribed deadlines to be reviewed. - Students are given hard-copies of the application at the information sessions (typically in early November)
